Influenza (The Flu) is a potentially severe and deadly illness that kills thousands of people in the United States each year. It has been estimated that influenza killed 80,000 Americans last year. (for comparison, breast cancer deaths were 40,000). See the story from Fox News:

Patients may walk in at their convenience just for the vaccination.

Alternatively, we would encourage you to receive your flu vaccine as part of a scheduled appointment.

We typically begin vaccination for influenza in October. This is the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control.

Those with the flu have suffered from high fever, sore throat, muscle aches, fatigue and cough that can linger for weeks. This is not just a common cold!

Influenza vaccine is the best way to keep yourself safe and stop transmission of the illness to your loved ones. We expect to have adequate vaccine for the upcoming flu season.

This year we are able to provide 2 different vaccines:

FluAD or Fluzone which is specifically designed for those over 65 years of age. It has an extra ingredient to make it stronger.

Standard quadrivalent flu vaccine for those under 65.

It can take 14 days for the vaccine to reach its maximum protective effect, so plan ahead.

The vaccine does NOT cause the flu. Because there are many other viruses that make people ill in the winter, you may come down with another illness, like a cold or infection caused by another virus after the flu vaccine. You may also become ill within a few days after receiving the vaccine from another virus that is circulating, or even influenza as your immunity has not fully developed. Do not blame the vaccine for this.
